Design

I chose to include this spread, as it is a bit different from the types of projects on which I usually work. This was the first assignment that I submitted on The Muse, it was my chance to show what I could do. I got to work with my partner, and interview her to to find an angle, and then interview her about the angle. I got the chance to work closely with our design editor, to become more familiar with Indesign. I was very happy with the finished product, considering how much work I put into it.

This was my mock design that I drew, correcting some elements on our website's home page. I tried to make it a bit more compact, by only featuring the most important information. Coming on to the publication, we had some large gaps and the information was very spread out. I tried to design a mock up that was more eye catching (for example, increasing the logos size) and then combined some elements (for example, using an arrow scroll feature to display the most recent stories).

This year the website team added a multimedia section to the website's homepage. The separation of videos between categories of stories provides a nice break on the homepage. This has allowed us to promote our videos and Youtube channel more through our website. Connecting our platforms has been a goal this year, and this was one step towards accomplishing this. These are mock-ups that I completed between my Junior and Senior years. The left is a website homepage mockup and it includes elements that I want to implement when school starts up. This includes the reordering of the right sidebar. The right photo is a mockup of our website's mobile version. I want to make it easier to navigate, as the majority of people visiting the website are on their phones. (5/11/23)
