Editing, Leadership, and Teambuilding
I decided to include this, as it was a very enjoyable team building activity. For halloween, we had a competition between the areas of The Muse. It was a very pleasant way to work as a team and try to win the pumpkin decorating contest. We all worked together to lead ourselves to victory (which we unfortunately did not achieve). However, it was overall a very nice experience that made us closer as a team.
This story upload was one of the first times that I was able to work with my staffer to collaborate on an upload. Deciding how to format this story was difficult, as we have never uploaded something similar. We played around with multiple templates in design drafts but decided to go with something more minimalistic. Being able to collaborate and share our ideas allowed us to try new things.
This text was to one of my staffers following a practice upload. Being in different class periods is challenging, but I assign him practice uploads to aid in his learning of the backend of our website. After a practice upload, I go through the story and text him the errors he needs to correct. He makes the edits during his class period, and we discuss any questions at lunch meetings. (1/26/23)
This text was to one of my staffers following a facetime call experimenting with different pro/con formats. I sent him the steps to uploading each format, so he could reference it for pro/con story uploads and work with the writer to choose a format. Being able to call him outside of school and work one-on-one on the things he needs help with is conducive to a stronger website now and for him to be confident operating the website when I graduate. This is important as it is the first year that I have had a staffer new to the website in my class period.
This year the website team has been utilizing Sno Flow's trainings. With new website features this year, the trainings have been a way for us to learn about the features available to us to make our website more visually appealing and interactive. This is important as it has been a goal to update the website from last year by utilizing the new elements available to us.
This year The Muse has been emphazing News in Brief. We have been covering smaller events, such as basketball games, to disseminate quick information to the student body and to be the source that students can go to when they want to know a sports score or details about an upcoming event. Although we rarely did briefs last year, I chose to include this entry as bringing back briefs has been a way to improve interactivity.
