Marketing and Audience Engagement

For marketing, all members of the publication sent out two-way mailers. These advertised The Muse, and promoted purchasing an ad, subscription, or donating to our student-run publication. I sent out my mailers each with a little personalized note, and received subscriptions for it. I decided to include this, as it was a fun way to let our families and friends gain incite into what we work on as a publication.

To raise money for the publication, we have business cycles every four weeks. A dollar = a point, but there are multiple other ways to earn points (such as designing a mock ad). I decided to include this, as earning these business points was (and continues to be) an amazing experience for me. I planned on trying to sell ads or subscriptions to three stores around my school. I planned what I was going to say, and why that specific store would benefit from purchasing from us. Being able to deliver sales pitches to managers was a bit nerve wracking. However, doing so made me feel more confident when speaking to adults and I enjoyed preparing and trying for sales.
